Năm 2016, mức lương tối thiểu của người lao động khi làm việc tại Úc là là 17.70 AUD/giờ (khoảng 300 nghìn đồng), mức thu nhập bình quân đầu người tại Úc là 33,138 USD/năm (khoảng 750 triệu đồng), Úc là một trong mười quốc gia có mức lương tối thiểu và mức thu nhập theo bình quân đầu người cao nhất thế giới.
Từ ngày 1/7/2017, danh sách ngành nghề được phép định cư theo dạng tay nghề tại Úc có hiệu lực. Danh sách này gồm có MLTSSL (Danh sách chiến lược trung và dài hạn) và STSOL (Danh sách ngành nghề ngắn hạn).
Danh sách ngành nghề ngắn hạn định cư Úc 2018 (Short-Term Skilled Occupation List) dành cho những đương đơn có chủ doanh nghiệp hoặc tiểu bang bảo lãnh như visa subclass 190, hoặc theo visa 457, visa 407, visa 186, visa 489 dòng Tiểu bang/lãnh thổ bảo lãnh.

Năm 2018, danh sách ngành nghê định cư Úc có một số thay đổi.
Những ngành được thêm vào danh sách ưu tiên ngắn hạn:
- Quản lý bất động sản/nhà cho thuê – Property Manager
- Bác sĩ/chuyên viên tâm lý trị liệu – Psychotherapist
- Đại diện/đại lý bất động sản – Real Estate Representative
Những ngành vẫn nằm trong danh sách ưu tiên định cư nhưng thêm một số điều kiện:
- Quản lý chỗ ở/khách sạn -Accommodation and Hospitality Managers
- Massage trị liệu – Massage Therapist
- Cố vấn tuyển dụng – Recruitment Consultant
- Quản lý cung ứng và phân phối – Supply and Distribution Manager
Những ngành bị loại khỏi danh sách ưu tiên:
- Công tác xây dựng (gần giống với giám sát công trường) – Building Associate
